Golden Paw Homestead Cookies
Paw-print cinnamon sugar cookies with a rustic vanilla glaze, brushed with edible gold and silver luster dust for a weathered, antique-metal look. Sweet paw prints, warm hearts, and a little sprinkle of gold.
Ingredients
- Cookies
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- Decoration
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 to 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- Food-safe edible gold luster dust
- Food-safe edible silver luster dust
Instructions
- Cream butter with both sugars until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla.
- Mix flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon separately, then gradually combine with the butter mixture.
- Refrigerate the dough for about 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough 1/4-inch thick. Use a paw-print cookie cutter, or form one larger pad with four smaller toe shapes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for roughly 9 to 12 minutes, until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely.
- Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla into a thick glaze. Apply an intentionally uneven layer so some cookie shows through.
- Once the glaze is dry, lightly brush different areas with edible silver and gold luster dust. Keep the application irregular for that weathered, antique-metal look.
Serving idea: arrange the cookies on a wood-grain serving board with scattered walnuts, cinnamon sticks, or autumn leaves for a beautiful, rustic presentation.
