Jolene’s Honey-Citrus Skillet Chicken
Bright, golden, sweet-savory, with a little fire — crisp chicken thighs simmered in a honey, lemon and orange glaze.
Where sweetness meets fire,
Jolene hums through the skillet.
Ingredients
- 4 bone-in chicken thighs
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 3 tbsp honey
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- Zest and juice of 1 orange
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp chili flakes (Jolene needs a little spark)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Fresh thyme or rosemary, for garnish
Instructions
- Season the chicken with the salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- Heat the olive oil in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.
- Sear the chicken thighs skin-side down until golden and crisp.
- Flip, then add the garlic to the pan and cook for 1 minute.
- Whisk together the honey, lemon juice, orange juice, zests, and chili flakes.
- Pour the honey-citrus mixture over the chicken.
- Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer 15–20 minutes, basting often, until the sauce thickens and the chicken is cooked through.
- Finish with fresh thyme or rosemary.
Serve with buttery mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, rustic bread to soak up the glaze, or a green salad for a bright summer meal.
