Rustic Berry Chia Jam
Simple, wholesome, made from real fruit — no pectin, no long boil, just berries thickened naturally with chia.
Ingredients
- 2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
- 2–3 tbsp alternative sugar (maple syrup, honey, coconut sugar, or monkfruit)
- 1–2 tbsp lemon juice
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- Optional: ½ tsp vanilla or a pinch of cinnamon
Instructions
- Warm the berries: cook the berries in a small saucepan over medium heat until juicy and softened, about 5–7 minutes.
- Mash gently to your preferred texture — rustic or smooth.
- Stir in the alternative sugar and lemon juice, and adjust to taste.
- Remove from the heat, stir in the chia seeds, and let sit 5–10 minutes to naturally thicken.
- Add vanilla or cinnamon if desired.
- Spoon into a jar and refrigerate for up to 1 week.
Delicious on toast, yogurt, oatmeal, or as a filling for crepes and pastries.
